I lie awake worrying again. This world seems like an awful, pointless place where everyone suffers and dies, ultimately for nothing. The Universe itself will cool to Absolute Zero and EVERYTHING will be forgotten. In the absence of greater purpose, people who crave importance construct beliefs, which pacify some until that terrible, inexorable moment when they must die. (But imagine being the last person on this planet or of our species to die. It WILL occur. I hope that person was able to find some momentary contentment; I'm not cynical enough not to appreciate the value in that.) We are mired in futility. Worse, a close friend of mine would say that my wisdom is that of a five-year-old's. Now I will rely on my animal's adrenaline to see me through another sleepless day. To work, search for happiness, and then die and be forgotten.(Composed last night, posted following morning after work, both using phone. I feel more at ease with the world now, although I an very tired. Four hours of sleep in 2.5 days...)
