106. Travel Plans: Hiroshima

Well, work is workish. The Japanese teachers are trickling back from their vacations: H-sensei went to Canada! She thoughtfully brought back last Friday’s National Post for us. It’s funny to see maple cookies being given out as omiyage!

I’ve decided to go to Hiroshima this weekend. I’m getting restless, and it’s almost my last chance to go on my Seishun Juhachi Kippu anyway. I’m determined to get my money’s worth, so I’m going to start the journey by visiting temples 23, 22, and 19 in the southern part of this prefecture, then going back north, northwest, then west. It’s going to be a long, hard journey, but nothing I can’t handle. I have a train itinerary all ready to go, so there shouldn’t be any surprises – at least not the unpleasant kind. It’ll be a lot of time on the trains, though. I’m a glutton for punishment!
