Route 89 Bedford

O joy! Look at this bus schedule! Look at it! And it starts on November 23rd - it'll already be running when I get back!

OK, it's only an hourly weekday service (though every 30 minutes at peak times), but this still beats the heck out of schlepping down to the 80 every time I want to go anywhere. My life going forward just got a lot easier. The new route won't really save me any time (it looks like it'll be nearly thirty minutes just to get to Lacewood Terminal - if I'm going to Peninsular Halifax I'll probably sometimes go the other way and transfer to the 80 instead), but it'll take away most of those painfully chilly February walks along some crusty, ice-strewn roadway shoulder. And by taking away the walk, in which I usually work up a great sweat, I'll also get to where I'm going without smelling like a racehorse. There's a reason why I tended to sit at the back of the room in my Honours year (especially post-car)...

Also, it'll be great to have a direct bus connection to Lacewood Drive, as the best public library in the city is there, and all the shopping and fun of Bayer's Lake is just a ten minute walk away.

This will be a godsend for Bedfordites and Sackvillizens who work in Bayer's Lake, too. Teletech's toast, but there are still lots of big box retailers and other mass employers in the area. I'm trying to save money now so that I don't have to work full-time again soon, but it's still nice to know that I have the option.

Ah, bliss! Now the longest part of my walking to school will be our driveway... =)
